Steveston Academy
Location: Steveston Village , Richmond , B.C.
Client: Steveston Independent School Society
Objective: To negotiate and secure land use approvals to permit the re-usage of BC Packers Ltd.’s former head office as a private, independent school for grades kindergarten to 12, within the Imperial Landing at Steveston community.
Role: As a senior land development consultant with Moodie Consultants Ltd., and then under Zuliani & Company Consultants Ltd., Steve Zuliani served as the lead consultant and project manager of 5 specialty consultant firms to complete the objectives.
Result: Technical and community issues were first identified and addressed before applying for a variety of Municipal approvals. Based on support from the existing neighbourhood and presenting the project as a positive community benefit, unanimous approvals were received. Since the small site only allowed for limited outdoor recreation space, a joint use agreement was negotiated allowing access to nearby publicly owned recreational facilities for the Academy’s physical education programs.
